Multiple sclerosis (MS) shows up differently from person to person, and symptoms can come and go or get worse over time. According to a recent study, gentle yoga and meditation can ease fatigue and anxiety symptoms in people living with MS. Read on to learn more about the study, and how to access the specially-designed yoga education program that was used in the study for free.

MANAGING MS-RELATED FATIGUE AND ANXIETY

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic disease that affects the central nervous system, and causes the immune system to attack the brain and spinal cord. Symptoms can vary widely and can include vision problems, tiredness, trouble walking and keeping balance, and numbness or weakness in the limbs. There is no cure for MS, but there are treatments designed to reduce symptoms and improve overall quality of life.

LoveYourBrain, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing the use of yoga and mindfulness for healing after traumatic brain injury (TBI), designed a six-week program combining yoga and group discussions about resilience. A pilot study was conducted to test the effects of the LoveYourBrain Yoga program on people with MS.  The study showed significant reductions in fatigue and anxiety, and improvements in well-being, for people with MS. In addition, more than 90% of participants in the study said they would recommend the program to others.
